confession session.

March 1, 2012

The first time I ever had a confession session was on a Friday night with the "7up girl gang" on a drive up the canyon with nothing else to do. We stopped by Macey's and picked up our favorite bags of cookies, and made the drive talking for hours that night. I don't know why, but the tradition continues on, and March the 1st seems to be the day that it all just happens again.

Confession Session #4

1. One thing I terribly regret and would do over again if I could: stay at BYU-Hawaii longer. I was so insistent on coming back to Provo (don't ask me why) to be near my friends here at the Y, but that was a mistake. Huge mistake.

2. I listened to this song for an entire week after Max got home.

3. I don't mean to brag, but... no cavities.

4. One word: kisstixx. To save my dad giving me a phone call, that's all I'll say about that.

5. I have actually hidden under my desk at work. Long story.

6. I have never, ever eaten a tomato.

7. I probably burned about 3,904,850,049,304,935 cd's before I owned an iPod. Not a joke. Heaston would always say that I could bring the 90's back with how many CD's I owned.

8. Did I ever write about the day that I got to talk to Elder Holland on the phone? After speaking with him for a few minutes, he told me that he considered me a daughter that he loved, and that truly remains one of the sweetest things anybody has ever told me in my entire life. There is nobody on earth who has a happier or sweeter voice.

9. I get onto Disneyland.com and plan pretend vacations at least once a week.

And last but not least,
Number 10. I know Buddy the Elf already said it, but I'm in love, I'm in love, and I don't care who knows it!

Confession Sessions: 1, 2 & 3

(thanks for the picture Sarbear)

christmas confession session.

December 21, 2011

1. The man I spoke to on the phone yesterday afternoon who kept referring to his wife as "my bride" (who he married nearly 44 years ago) deserves everything he wants on Christmas morning.
2. Phil Dunphy, will you marry me?
3. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is now a movie? Time to confess: I didn't finish the book.
(side note: I cry in the trailer War Horse. Who cries in the trailer War Horse?)
4. I also cried at the Post Office on Monday morning. Something about seeing a line of cars all waiting to drop off Christmas letters and packages and then listening to I'll Be Home For Christmas as you drive away will do that to you.
5. All I want for Christmas is: you. Really.
6. Kylie and I called a long over-due girls night, which meant leaving the uno dolares theater early so we could talk. Instead, we watched parts of the latest Victoria Secret fashion show to encourage any sort of motivation we have for our new years resolutions.
(6.5 I still have no motivation.)
7. Half of my Christmas shopping was done completely online. Bless you Amazon.
8. If the boy who asked you to be his girlfriend when you were sixteen asks you again nearly six years later... It's even cuter than I thought it would be.
9. I miss my parents way more than I care to admit.
10. I read Christmas Every Day every year.

"Peace on earth will come to stay,
When we live Christmas every day."-Helen Rice

I love this season.

maybe it's what some people call stalking.

December 8, 2011

SAVE THE DATE from Hailey Haugen on Vimeo.

I promise I only really stalk people through their blogs, because blogs are so much more fun than Facebook. But after obsessing over Haugen Creative videos (like this one and this one and this one) I ran across her own personal Vimeo account a few days ago, and posted on my own blog her own video about her missionary coming home. This is when I knew we were probably meant to be real life friends.

And then Kylie, my stalker-in-crime, texted me this afternoon and told me that Hailey (we're on a first name basis now) was engaged. And she had posted a video of the whole thing.

So you can't blame me when I admit that it made me cry, because it's "shark week" (if you know what I'm saying) which also means I cried during Modern Family last night, too... but that's beside the point.

And yes, admittedly I found her on Facebook, and although we only have 1 mutual friend, I feel like adding her just to say: Hi. I think you're awesome and your videos are awesome and your love life is awesome and we'd be as good of friends I think as I would be with Taylor Swift if I knew her in real life, too. Awesome.

So that's all I have for today. Watch the video above just because it's cute, and because you can stalk her through me, and I have to say it: it's the best time of the year to be in love.

young and old.

July 21, 2011

10 confessions of growing old (and by old, I mean, I just turned 22):

1. Do you remember when you were little and you'd kiss your pillow/pretend imaginary boyfriend before going to sleep? Okay, so maybe I don't do that (anymore), but I daydream about my wedding and things like that before I go to bed -- it's basically become a part of my routine: wash my face, brush my teeth, say my prayers... plan a wedding.

2. Eye wrinkle cream is now a part of that routine, too.

3. I'd still rather eat anything saturated with sugar for breakfast. I try and avoid the poptart aisle at all costs.

4. I don't want to grow old today. Sometimes that changes, but after talking to my mom about rest homes and the hearing impaired, I decided today is a day I definitely don't want to grow old.

5. My Zac Efron crush is dying, and I'm starting to get motion sickness on swing sets... a sure sign that my childhood has definitely ended.

6. I'd rather go to bed early and wake up early than the alternative.

7. Time to admit it: my parents were right.

8. My bad hip is getting worse, and it's illegal for me to drive without glasses. I'll probably be arthritic and blind by 25.

9. I still drive as fast as I did when I was sixteen.

10. And most of the time, I still feel like I could be seventeen.

--

Since I'm a little bit younger than most of my friends, I always feel semi-prepared when my birthday rolls around because everyone has "already aged" -- But this year, I felt differently. When I turned twenty I remember vaguely feeling a little sad because I had to say goodbye to my adolescence; turning twenty-one, however, was just a lot of fun.

But twenty-two?

After writing down that list, even though I know I'm still young (although some things are definitely sounding a bit old), I have come to the final conclusion that this year is a good year to be a little bit of both.

So Happy Birthday to all the other July 21sts out there! It was a good day to be born, if I do say so myself.

Confession Session. Trois.

March 1, 2011

I don't know why - but it's sort of become a tradition (as in this is only the third time I've done this). But nevertheless, a confession session must still be had, because today is March the first of Two-Thousand-Eleven.

1. I hate washing my hair. If I could magically decide to either 1. Never have to wash my hair again or 2. Never have to shave again - I'd pick 1.

2. Andrew Garfield? This fellow from The Social Network? Seriously would have given a right arm and/or leg to have been his date to the Oscars on Sunday night. Really.

No, really.

3. Speaking of missing arms -- (worst transition in the world, I know) -- this Disney Movie preview almost made me cry. And I want to see the Disney movie Prom. But if I really got to choose - I'd go see a silent movie over anything any night of the week because they melt my heart.
(and if you live somewhere near Salt Lake City you can see them here!)

4. I think we all saw this one coming...but seriously: Justin Bieber, Justin Bieber, Justin Bieber. You know something is wrong with you when you're sitting in the Justin Bieber movie and your 10 year old cousin asks if you're really crying. Because I did. As did my sister. For a good ten minutes (this movie is inspiration at it's best my friends). And as Kylie said: Justin Bieber is a prodigy.

5. I hate video games. Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Halo, Wii anything - I am not a fan. And I am now every boy and future child's worst nightmare.

6. 90% of my diet truly consists of cheese, turkey and bread.

7. The first picture I had on my dashboard when I got my first car was of President Bush. And I still think he's cute.

8. I bought 10 flying paper lanterns after I saw the movie Tangled. I plan on making a wish on every single one of them one of these days.

9. I have a marriage book. And I know I sound a little BYU-esque when I say that, but I do. I started a marriage book of all my favorite quotes, poems, ideas for kids names and married date night ideas... I even have a section: "to read when we get in future disagreements."
Honestly? It's one of my most favorite books in the world.

10. Last but not least...
Reading this quote the other day changed my life:
"Never let a problem to be solved become more important than a person to be loved."
-President Thomas S. Monson

Okay, maybe it didn't change my life, but reading it made me want to.

And with all ten confessions out there,
my March can officially begin.

Confession Session. Round 2.

March 1, 2010

New Month.
New Thoughts.
A New Round of Confessions for today, March 1, 2010.

1. I don't know how much I love the president, but I still love Wes Jurkatis.

2. I learned the hard way, (yet again today)
That life is a lot of great things, but "being fair" isn't one of them.

3. Night at the Museum 2 made me want to be remembered.

4. Although I'm not proud of this, I haven't watched a smidge of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Nope, not even a second of the opening ceremonies.

5. It takes me 6 months to wash my jeans.

6. I have only painted my fingernails with red or pink nail polish. I will never paint them any other color either... (It's an OCD thing, I think)

7. Growing up, my parents were right 99.7% of the time.
However, the many times my parents mentioned: "Once you graduate high school, things will change and your friends will all go their separate ways..." falls into the .3% of being false. My best friends will always be the friends I made in the 10th grade.

8. I wrote 3 separate 300 page stories on the band Dream Street in the seventh grade, and one of my stories took "first place" on a Dream Street website. I'm still proud of myself 8 years later.

9. If you were to ask me what I like about myself, I might pause for a moment -- But deep down I'd really be thinking, "I really like my laugh."

10. I spend a lot of time on this blog talking about things that make me happy: picnic baskets with checkered bows, watching people in love, falling in love myself...But to be honest, my faith makes me happier than anything else.

wishing you all a happy month of march!

and the half of me's all about apathy

January 26, 2010

when it comes to my 12 page paper due on thursday.

define apathetic
(a-pə-ˈthe-tik):

marked by a lack of interest; a state of indifference.
complete lack of motivation.

define kelsie, as of January 26th, 9:29 AM:

apathetic.

M as in Max.

January 7, 2010

"i like you because of this and that,
because of what you don't and do,
but mostly because of who you are
through and through.

when the rain falls hard,
i hold an umbrella for you;
and when the future gets foggy,
you hold hopeful signs for me.

when the rain pitter-patters on the roof,
and when the daffodils pop,
i like that too.

and i know if i ever got lost at sea,
you would look for me;
even though the ocean is big you would say,
"you're not as lost as you think you are,"
and you would be right.

but sometimes being friends with you
isn't all peaches and cream.
there are days i truly dislike your snippy ways,
and i find the way you truffle
into your shuffles
downright awful
(sometimes you think i'm not too sporty either)

we have flaws
and fizzles
and foibles

but i like your true (and kooky) colors,
and you like my big and moody heart.

i like it when we act like kids on a swing.

we'll be friends until the end of always,
because liking you is a thing that grows and grows,
(even through the hard parts)."
-sandy gingras.

Max has been my best friend since
we were 16 years old,
(and we both turn 21 this year);
we used to sit on the back row
in 11th grade english,
and whisper to each other
throughout class.

you could say i really like M as in Max,
as in my best friend Max.
and most days (like every day)
i really love him too.

Facebook Status: Deactivated.

one goal of 2010 has already been accomplished.

and trust me, i know all the "pros" that facebook can bring:
keeping in touch with old friends who
otherwise you'd never hear from,

seeing whats going on with friends and family members
who may live around the world,

etc...
etc...
etc...

but the "cons" outweigh those for now.

for those who may still be interested,
i found these following articles rather amusing,
(and perhaps slightly persuasive)

1. How Not to be Hated on Facebook.
"If you create a group called "Lost my cell phone; need your numbers!," I will join, but I won't give you my number."

2. Facebook is Now a Part of Your Relationship.
"Emily and Michael Weise-King were in complete agreement about their status: they decided to change themselves from "engaged" to "married" in the middle of their February 2009 wedding reception."

goodbye facebook,
goodbye annoying notifications,
goodbye ridiculous news feeds,
goodbye life-wasting social network.
your purely-meant-for-stalking-ways
will not be missed by me.

M-I-C-K-E-Y....M-O-U-S-E

December 3, 2009

Yet another confession:
I am in the middle of another love affair.
(I have them all the time, I know.)
But there are too many things to fall madly in love with in life,
and this certain mouse in no exception.
we even kissed.

Last year I got to go to Disneyland for Thanksgiving with my family before everyone moved far away from each other. The entire trip was magical - and by magical I mean hands down, the most amazing thing I've ever experienced.

Considering D.Land is already the happiest place on earth, add Christmas music, decorations, lights, fireworks, dancing prince and princesses and best of all:
real snow
.
Yes, it is probably one of my favorite vacations thus far, and I am packing to leave again tomorrow!

And if all that wasn't already great enough: This insanely talented musician who I've already seen 9 times in concert will be performing in downtown Disney on Saturday night.

Aaaaaannnnnndddd: I get to make the ten hour long drive with this lady and this special lady.

AAAAAANNNNNNNNDDDDD: I get to go eat out on this pier at Huntington beach before heading home for finals week.

Aaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnndddddddddddddd:
best of all.
i am insanely blessed to be alive.
i realize that every morning when i wake up.
i am the happiest girl in the world
who gets to go to the happiest place on earth
during the happiest time of year.

and ps. i promise to post pictures of my third boyfriend (aka my dog jasper) asap.

hugs, loves, and merry wishes to you all this weekend!

top secret.

November 30, 2009

we have a newest addition to apartment #305:

he is 4 pounds.
and will only ever weigh 8.
he is furry and defines adorable.
likes to cuddle and play with nixon watches.
and we are thinking of naming the new puppy jasper.

but keep it a secret.

my parents don't know.

No Contest.

November 23, 2009

for the past half an hour, my boss and i have been debating between:

Brad Pitt vs. Robert Redford

Honestly?

No contest.

i've said this before...and i will say it again....
i was born fifty years (way) too late.

Confession: Christmas Commericals Make Me Cry.

November 9, 2009

i must sounds like little miss emotional all the time, because every time i write i either:
a. just got finished crying
b. am anticipating crying
or
c. crying.

i promise i am really happy... maybe that's why i cry, because i am so happy. i don't know. but i have realized something over the past two days...and basically the past 12 years:

Christmas commercials, no matter how silly, dorky, or overplayed.... also make me cry.

So here is one of my favorites (pull out a tissue or 2)

even though i've seen that several times, my eyes always start to sting as if i were about to cry.
and now i know why.

it's because it makes me happy. so happy.

for a brief 30 seconds, one commercial can remind me of every wonderful christmas memory i have.
and i hope these commercials may do a little bit of the same for you guys too.

ps. i just got my plane ticket for a christmas in new zealand! it may not be snowy outside, but i'll be with my family. and that makes me so. stinkin. excited.

wishing you a very merry monday!

The OC

October 15, 2009

Confession: I am still in love with Seth & Summer from the O.C.

but personally...i've always thought the spiderman kiss was kind-of overrated.
(unless i were kissing Adam Brody in the pouring rain...
that would make it an entirely different story)

As Much As I Love...

July 9, 2009

As much as I "love being single" (or in other words: unmarried), I kind-of sort-of, changed my mind for a half-of-a-second...

The other night was entirely devoted to me. I called off all plans and instead, ordered take out, redboxed a movie, and snuggled up in bed by myself to enjoy some peace and quiet amidst the busy little life I lead.

But to my surprise, as I sat eating my very own box of Mexican rice, watching my very own copy of Meet Joe Black for the one hundred and fiftieth time, while snuggling under my very own blanket...I thought: You know what Kels, I really don't think you will mind the day when you're getting take out for two, arguing over what movie to see, and then snuggling with someone besides yourself.

Yes, I have to say that I think that will kind-of, sort-of, for more than half-of-a-second, be a very, very Happy day.

Confession Session.

March 1, 2009

New Month.
New Thoughts.
New Confessions for today, March 1, 2009.

1. I want to marry Wes Jurkatis. I've had a crush on him ever since he asked me for a piece of gum in the tenth grade. It's about time I face the depressing fact that I am in love.

2. I cry in every episode of Extreme Home Makeover when they say: "Move that bus!" As the family starts to cry, I cry with them.
Every time.
No exceptions.

3. I religiously watch America's Next Top Model marathons on the Oxygen channel. My dad would disown me if he knew that too.

3. I crave writing like I crave chocolate. It's an addiction.

4. I've wanted to move to Boston my whole life, I just don't know if I'd be brave enough to start my life over.

5. Some days I have a different attitude towards marriage than the rest of the BYU population. Not that I don't want to, or that I think it isn't a wonderful thing - I do...just give me 7 years.

6. One day I want to sit next to a stranger on a park bench and hear their life story.

7. I firmly believe wishes come true - surprise, surprise. I also believe that pinky fingers are as easy to bite off as carrots and that there are men who hide under cars so that they can clip Achilles tendons and then easily take their victim...

8. I am frustrated with the people who say you should live life with no regrets...I think that's really stupid. I regret plenty of things, and because of that, I have learned some really great things.
Life just seems to work out that way.

9. I have always wanted a brother.
Always.
When I was little, I would draw "my family" pictures with a little boy up in the clouds (a hint my parents didn't take...) But today I had an epiphany and realized that I actually did have three brothers in heaven, we just came down to earth as best friends.

10. I am especially happy today to know that families can be together forever.

That's all.

Oh, and I am not thrilled at this point with the socialist country our President seems to be turning the U.S. into - just throwing that out there.
