I'd Rather Be Reading.

September 29, 2009

I just finished reading Tess of the D'urbervilles
which, despite the (at times) slow moving plot (perhaps that's because I knew from the start
who she would and wouldn't end up with)
I still fell in love with the book and Thomas Hardy...
more importantly, I re-fell in love with reading.
(Some people say you can't fall in love more than once...
I do often)
Anyway, it's time to make another trip to barnes & noble
and i'd like your help.
What are some of your favorite books?
Favorite authors?
Fiction, non fiction...
Anything.

Your feedback would be oh-so appreciated, giving me another perfect excuse to start drinking caramel hazlenut steamers with my nose buried in a book.

Eat Pray Love
My Life in France
A Pig in Provence

I hate to say this, but all of the above books are food related. I have an addiction to food literature.

I do have Julia Childs biography, a Historic Prservation book, and Proust sitting on my nightstand. I have ambitions damnit! :-) I'll let you know how those three go!

kELLO!- Good luck with Anna Karenina it's been on my bookshelf for several years. I'm thinking of getting it on my kindle so I don't have to lug it around to coffee shops and look like someone *trying* to appear all brainy! :-)

Reading is the be-all and end-all... takes you to fantasy worlds hehehe. Have you read any chuck palahniuk books? I would recommend Choke, its kind of vulgar but definitely has a different voice than a lot of books i've read!

What are some of your favourite books? The unbearable lightness of being, the map of love (AHDAF SOUIEF)are what I can remember now, out of my endless list of favourite books!
You should also read the elegance of the hedgehog! And the time traveller's wife is an amazing book! (currently reading)

Oh and I also love anything by Milan Kundera:)

I agree on the Elegance of the Hedgehog. Also, the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, if you haven't yet read it. I personally love I Capture the Castle, and for nonfiction, Bill Bryson is pretty funny.

That's all I can think of just now... Oh, you should lastly consider Ella Minnow Pea. It's a good one!
